Dear all,

The two packages -gzsave- and -zipsave- have just been updated (use -ssc describe- for more info, -ssc install- to install). This update is rather significant in that it is now easier to open subsets of a compressed dataset (-zipuse- and -gzuse- now allows variable names, as well as "if" and "in" statements by means of the alternative syntax of "using", similar to -use varlist using filename-). Further, both packages now include dedicated commands for appending and merging compressed datasets, i.e. -zipappend-/-gzappend- and -zipmerge-/-gzipmerge-, respectively. More information is available in the help-files from which I have pasted the package descriptions below. As always, thanks goes to Kit Baum for making the updates available at SSC.

Any comments, bug reports, etc. are most welcome.

Best,

Henrik
