Thanks to Richard. The force option worked perfectly. Out of
curiousity I re-ran the query:
. update query
(contacting http://www.stata.com)
Stata executable
folder: C:\Program Files\Stata9\
name of file: wsestata.exe
currently installed: 20 Jan 2006
latest available: 15 Sep 2005
Ado-file updates
folder: C:\Program Files\Stata9\ado\updates\
names of files: (various)
currently installed: 20 Jan 2006
latest available: 20 Jan 2006
Recommendation
Do nothing; all files up to date.
I don't know why there appears to be a problem with communicating with
stata.com, but my original problem is solved.
I am using Stata SE 9.1 for Windows, updated to 20th Jan.
Cheers
Paul
