Plotting the mean and the median is a little confusing unless you give them
distinct representations. JMP has a neat trick of superimposing the mean and
its confidence interval, plotted as a diamond, on the boxplot. It also draws
lines inside the diamond for comparison of means, but these are approximate
(same goes for simultaneous confidence intervals for the median, available
only, I think, in Data Desk).
