In the Stata 11 update released on September 1, 2010, the haver command was enabled for 64-bit Stata on Microsoft Windows on x86-64 hardware. To get the haver command to work, you must first install the 64-bit Haver DLL (click here to download). Once you have downloaded the DLL, move it to the C:\Windows\System32\ directory.
If you do not have permissions to write to this directory, you can save the DLL to another directory, and then use the set haverdll command in Stata to specify the path where the DLL was saved. For example, if you saved the DLL to C:\ADIR, you could type
. set haverdll "C:\ADIR\DLXAPI64.DLL"
If you need to do this, you might want to include this command in your profile.do so that haver will work every time you start Stata.
