Title | JVM (Java Virtual Machine) update schedule | |
Author | James Hassell, StataCorp |
Since the release of Stata 16, StataCorp has been redistributing a JVM based on OpenJDK (Open Java Development Kit) as part of its installation package. Vendors typically release updates for the OpenJDK four times a year at an interval of roughly three months apart. StataCorp makes a good faith effort to make those updates available through Stata's normal software update facilities for a period of up to one year beyond the release of the next major version of Stata. If you or your organization require software patches for OpenJDK more frequently, or beyond that time frame, we recommend that you reconfigure Stata to use a version of the OpenJDK that you provide. See help java_utilities for specific configuration details.
