Hi,
This was raised on this list before, but as Stata 13 was not confirmed
yet, we never learnt whether Stata 13 utilizes things on more modern
Intel CPUs.
Basically, if I can choose between Xeon (server) chips or Haswells
meant for consumer-grade workstations, am I losing anything with the
Xeon one? I guess a Xeon is more efficient in some sense, yet it is
always behind on its architecture and instruction set.
Put differently: Which instruction sets are the last we should be
up-to-date with?
Stata 13 would be the primary use case of a new system I can procure.
Thanks!
Laszlo
