Safe to assume that creates all possible 2-way interactions of G2 with each var inside the parentheses... but not the fully factorialized model?
No, not safe... The ## implies full factorial between what is on the left and what is on the right (but not, as you may mean, interactions of stuff inside the parens). Using auto.dta, try
