Well you could probably run:
version
query compilenumber
If you had the output at the top of your log file it would be a bit easier to trace what you did and possibly to obtain an exact replica of the Stata executable from StataCorp at some point in the future. But as far as I can tell the compile number only refers to the Stata executable, not the associated ado-files which do most of the analysis. In addition you would ideally need to record details of the operating system etc.
