I don't think that would help you, because you would still need to reconstitute the files that corresponded to it and StataCorp does not work like Java.

thank you for replies. I was hoping there's something like a build
number in Stata, which is similar to other software. e.g. in Java the
build number such as build 1.6.0_22-b04 would define the configuration
of the virtual machine, which I can store locally or download from
Oracle/Sun web site if needed
