figengunes@bilkent.edu.tr reports only being able to allocate up to 1300 MB of data to Stata on 64-bit Windows: > I have Stata SE 11.1 and 64-bit operating system. I can only use memory > upto 1300m in Stata. For merging monthly return data with accounting data, > it gives me an error "no room to add observations". Do you know how I can > increase the memory? He has received several helpful suggestions. Based on his description of the problem, I believe that it is almost certain that he is running 32-bit Stata for Windows on his 64-bit version of Windows. He can verify this by typing -about- in Stata and looking at the first line of output: . about Stata/MP 11.1 for Windows (32-bit) ... ^^^^^^^^ Notice the "32-bit" at the end of the line. If he is running 64-bit Stata for Windows, the end of the line will show "64-bit x86-64". I suspect, however, that it will show "32-bit". If this is the case, he should uninstall Stata and reinstall it, making sure to select the 64-bit version. If he still has problems, he should contact Technical Services at tech-services@stata.com. --Alan ariley@stata.com * * For searches and help try: * http://www.stata.com/help.cgi?search * http://www.stata.com/support/statalist/faq * http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/stata/
