Better or worse I leave for others to judge, but -fre- is a serious well-developed program and -jmptab- a wrapper written in a few minutes, so that they are not in the same league. 

But, that said, I want to point out that -fre- is for Univariate tables only. If anyone wants this for cross-tabulation, -fre- will not help.

Nick Cox pointed to a solution. Probably a better solution was made
by Ben Jann: the unofficial -fre- command. Install it by:

  . ssc install fre
