Hi everyone,
I'm in the market for a new computer to do some large scale data
analysis and was wondering whether or not a laptop could be a viable
option. I'm very much attracted to the idea of a laptop because of its
portability. To give you some sense of what I need, here are the specs
of the desktop computers we use in my office (the laptop specs would
have to come close):
-Intel Core2 3ghz processors (64 bit operating system)
-8 GB of memory
-and a huge hard drive (i suppose i could buy an external hard drive?)
My max budget is around $1500. I was wondering if anyone does large
scale data analysis using stata on a laptop and how that has worked
out, or if there are suggestions of which laptop to use. If anyone has
any thoughts or suggestions about this, I'd very much appreciate it.
Please let me know if more info is required.
Thanks so much!!
Suzy
