-hplot- (which goes back to 1997 at least) still works! But there was no
point in my updating it. It was superseded in Stata 8 by both -graph
dot- (etc.) and various -twoway- commands. The StataCorp developers
looked carefully at the same sources of inspiration.
So, in terms of new Stata graphics, this could be a -twoway- plot using
both -rcap- and -scatter-.
There is a pertinent tutorial in
SJ-8-2 gr0034 . . . . . . . . . . Speaking Stata: Between tables and
graphs

I will be talking around this kind of topic at the Washington, DC
meeting in July.

Back in 2001 (Version 6) Nick Cox wrote a program called hplot with
which one could display odds (or risk) ratios and confidence intervals.
Has anybody updated hplot or written something similar that they'd be
willing to share?
Below is a sketch of what I'm looking for.
