It goes against Stata philosophy, I think, that Stata does something
that you didn't ask it for. I think that it is up to the user to
decide how to incorporate the information into the graph. I would
normally title a graph with this information - something like
"Wellbeing scores in men and women" - to draw attention to the -by-
variable in the title.
In general, I would like each element of a chart to be capable of
being turned off using an (off) option. -legend- can be turned off,
but not so -note-. This is inconsistent and Stata is generally a
stickler for consistency.
