I'm afraid that it will have to be done (considerably) more than once! If
anyone could offer an idea of how to get started with a program, that would
be much appreciated.

I imagine it can be programmed. On the other hand, if you are only going to
do this once, it may be just as easy to do it manually.
I'll reiterate though, that even if you can do it, I doubt that you should.
But I'm sure you have your reasons.
