Actually, now I think of it I also have problems viewing the do files
using e.g the unix more command. Is there an easy way I can convert the
format of these too?

The free TextWrangler (and its big brother, not free, BBEdit) can
change the line endings on files, I believe in a batch mode (e.g. all
files in this folder...)
It is possible to do so with a one-liner in perl or awk -- don't have
those memorized, but should be readily googled. I set the default line-
end mode in BBEdit (which I usually use to work on do- and ado-files)
as Unix rather than Mac OS, so that any new file will have this
characteristic, and routinely change the mode on any file I open that
is not already Unix line ending.
