Re: st: Stata Mac question :
Fred,
File Buddy will do batch changes of file types; I have changed the
types of DO files to TEXT. In any case, you should write Leap's
author and ask what metadata Leap uses to determine file types.

Thanks Steve and Ronan,
I don't have a problem searching for do or ado files in the finder.
I did associate .do and .ado files with the editor, TextWrangler. Both
of the .do and .ado files report in the finder "Kind: ASP Code File."
If I associate .do and .ado with StataMP or TextMate the Kind does not
change.
The reason this is of interest to me is that I have been using an
extraordinarily useful Mac application called "Leap"
(http://www.ironicsoftware.com/leap/) that "tags" files by "File
Types" (actually by Kind). Both .do and .ado files are lumped together
as "ASP Code File." So I can't separate do and ado by file type. I
have no idea where this designation came from ... perhaps from
TextWrangler," but it doesn't go away.
If I find out more I will report back.

A question that perhaps the Mac Stata gurus can answer. The mac
designates .do and .ado files as having a "file kind" as "ASP Code
File." By contrast, dta file kinds is .dta and graph file kind is
.gph. The combining of .do and .ado causes me some problems in
searching. Does anyone know how to change the file kind or have
some
other kind of work around?
Have you associated them with Stata? When I do a 'get info' on a
do-file,
the kind is reported as "Stata do-file". You may need to get info
and change
the "open with", checking the box for "always open with".
