I am not able to reproduce your problem (no pun intended):
*------------------- begin example -----------------------
sysuse auto, clear
recode rep78 1/2=3
ice rep78 foreign mpg, clear m(5) seed(1234)
mim, storebv: reg mpg rep78 foreign
eststo original
sysuse auto, clear
recode rep78 1/2=3
ice rep78 foreign mpg, clear m(5) seed(1234)
mim, storebv: reg mpg rep78 foreign
eststo replication
esttab original replication , mtitles(original replication)
*-------------------- end example ------------------------
(For more on how to use examples I sent to the Statalist, see
http://home.fsw.vu.nl/m.buis/stata/exampleFAQ.html )
The fact that I cannot reproduce your problem makes it hard to give a
concrete suggestion on how to solve it, but maybe comparing the example
above with your data and analysis can help you in pin-pointing the
problem and finding a solution.

If you originally installed -ice- from the Stata Journal and a later
update is available from SSC, than -adoupdate- is not able to detect
that update.
Hope this helps at least a bit,
