///

Hi,

I just learned about XBRL and I would like to get some information from
users and hopefully developers on this topic. In order to motivate the
discussion, I will give a lot of information... sorry for the long
email.

XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is a relative new format
based on XML (kind of XLS for internet). The main difference is that
XBRL was designed to be used in financial statements
(http://www.xbrl.org/WhatIsXBRL/). But in practice, it seems to me that
it is pretty similar to a text-file, so Stata could read it.

In the following years, many financial statement will follow a different
accounting approach, and in addition, the information will flow in XBRL
format. So we could have a company with past financial information in a
old format (suppose text) and using old definition (profit_old), but
with current info in a new format (xbrl) using new definitions
(profit_new). At the end, we want to analyze the information
altogether... so we will need to put the whole stuff in Stata and doing
some stat analysis.

Now, my questions.

1. Is there anyone aware of this? I mean someone that needs to take care
of this situation. I will be happy to get contact with someone else that
needs to solve this problem.

2. Any kind of solution using Stata? Such as infile, xbrl. Here a
question for Bill: Is the company interested to enter in this market?

Thanks for your time,

Rodrigo.
