Re: st: STATA and Mac system
StataCorp ships Stata 10 for Mac OS X, as well as Unix and Windows.
Details are on the Stata web site:
<http://www.stata.com/products/macintosh.html>
If you already have a license for Stata on another platform (e.g.,
Windows), it apparently is possible to "cross-grade" to the native
Mac version for $25. See this message from Kevin Crow
([email protected]):
<http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2008-02/msg00992.html>
Technically, it may be possible to run the Windows version of Stata
under a virtualized Windows environment on a Mac (through the use of
VMWare Fusion, Parallels Desktop, CrossOver Mac and/or Sun's xVM
Virtual Box), but there may be issues with speed and compatibility,
not to mention the loss of native Mac support -- for example, PDF
output directly from Stata or interacting with external editors --
and the hassles of maintaining a second operating system.
Since you are (or will be) new to the Mac, you might find the
following websites helpful:

<http://www.macintouch.com/>
<http://db.tidbits.com/>
<http://www.macosxhints.com/>
Hope this helps.
