Windows server 2003 standard edition only supports 4-way symmetric
multiprocessing. You need Enterprise edition for 8-way SMP support. The
following web page from Microsoft compares different editions of Windows
Server 2003. The section under "Hardware Specifications" contains the
SMP support information.
