st: sort a list

Dear all,
is there anybody who knows how to list variables that are sorted by a 
variable of my choice?
In practice, I have to do something like this (pure example):

bysort colour: list id names age

and I want to resulting list to be sorted by id say, so within each 
colour category, I want to sort again id numbers.

Any ideas?
