st: -graph twoway tsline- over group means

Is there a way to run

. graph twoway tsline x y, xsize(9) ysize(6) clpattern(dash) xlabel
>(1978(4)1990)

whilst summing over group means of the panel variable, z? Nothing doing
this generates pretty rubbish graphs!

I found nothing on this in -whelp tsline- or in -whelp graph twoway-.
