Dear Statalisters (or may be rather Stata technicians),
I am running a fairly long simulation with ML estimation in the background
mode (Stata 8.2, Win 2000). When I click on the background Stata window,
it shows a dialog of the kind "continue/abort?", but even if I click
"continue", Stata still receives some sort of an interruption: the ML log
says "could not calculate numerical derivatives". Is that a bug or a
feature? I did not find it documented anywhere. May be it is just a
coincidence, of course, but a bit too regular.
