for those interested, i have added a plugin to -psmatch2- to perform
nearest neighbor matching
this implies an important speedup which is especially convenient when
bootstrapping for standard errors:
on my PIII-600, matching 20,000 treated to 40,000 controls takes 6
secs with the plugin compared to 73 secs with the ado-code.
the next official update will therefore require stata 8.2
the present version of -psmatch2-, which runs on stata 7, will be
demoted to -psmatch27-
before putting this on SSC i make this faster version of -psmatch2-
available through my usersite to give it some testing
if you want to give it a try, update as follows:
net from http://www1.fee.uva.nl/scholar/mdw/leuven/stata
net install psmatch2, replace
there is a version for windows and one for linux
(people with other operating systems who want to compile the plugin
can email me off-list)
