Dear List,

I know that Stata doesn't support SEM, but I am seeking the advice of you
who had to work with SEM about which software to choose. I am not sure which
one is better AMOS or Lisrel.
Thanks to LISREL, I learned most of the Greek alphabet 25 years ago. It was a difficult program, which was widely viewed as a virtue by those who felt powerful techniques should be kept out of the hands of people who had no idea how to use them.

I haven't used the program as much in recent years, but the interface has certainly been made more user friendly. Many new features have been added. I can't compare it to Amos, but I wouldn't have trouble recommending Lisrel as a program.

You can find out more about Lisrel at

There is a free student edition you can try out at
