After recently installing Stata/SE 8 for Windows on my new computer I
tried installing the latest official updates. Stata starts downloading
the various ado files but then stops midway through this process and
gives the following message (in red):
"unexpected end of file"

This is the sort of problem where it is often best just to try again later
and see if it goes away. It might be due to temporary connection
problems. Another thing you might do is manually download and install the
updates. If this problem is due to a bug that has been fixed, then
