Hi Ping,
You won't find wstata.old unless you've renamed wstata.exe as
wstata.old yourself. If you've done this then you should also have
renamed wstata.bin wstata.exe
>From the Users manual you need to carry out the following _after_
having typed -update executable-
1. Exit Stata
2. In windows explorer go to where you have Stata installed
3. Ensure that you can see the full filename as I described in my
previous posting, you want to be able to see the file extensions
next to the file names so that when you click on a file with the right
mouse button and select rename you can change the .exe or .old
or .bin bit of the file.
4. Rename wstata.exe to wstata.old
5. Rename wstata.bin (the updated executable that you have just
downloaded) to wstata.exe
You should now be able to start Stata and when you type -update
executable- you should be told that your executable is already up
to date.
If your still having problems have a look at here
http://www.stata.com/support/updates/
and if you can't get it to work then I'd recommend calling Technical
Support
Hope that helps
Neil
P.S. - You only need to reply to one of my email addresses as
they all get forwarded to the same place, and its general netiquette
to respond to the mailing list (although I've broken this rule myself
as you messaged me personally)
