Dear All
I am attempting to append 20 smaller files together to produce one large
dataset with 20 different strata. When I describe and tab, this is what
comes out:
kt | Freq. Percent Cum.
------------+-----------------------------------
1 | 572 5.77 5.77
2 | 230 2.32 8.08
3 | 399 4.02 12.11
5 | 542 5.46 17.57
6 | 600 6.05 23.62
7 | 553 5.57 29.19
9 | 416 4.19 33.38
10 | 472 4.76 38.14
11 | 418 4.21 42.35
12 | 630 6.35 48.70
13 | 603 6.08 54.78
14 | 426 4.29 59.08
15 | 384 3.87 62.95
16 | 496 5.00 67.95

After setting the survey components and running svy, Stata does not
recognize that there should be 20 strata in my new dataset. Two strata also
disappear when I set the pweight
. svymean shotdi*
Survey mean estimation
pweight: <none> Number of obs(*) = 8488
Strata: kt Number of strata = 17
PSU: cluster Number of PSUs = 665
Population size = 8488
. svyset pweight fwtia
. svymean shotdi*
Survey mean estimation
pweight: fwtia Number of obs = 4477
Strata: kt Number of strata = 15
PSU: cluster Number of PSUs = 540
Population size = 29590.974
What could have gone wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
