our corporate lan uses a firewall called websense to block/log internet
transfers. however stata calls for update, it is not enough to trigger the
netsense request for password access, and the request is denied. if i open
my web browser and go the the stata.com website, then websense will request
my password to get to the internet, and i can browse stata.com, and within
the time window (here, 10 mins or so), i can 'update' from within stata.
winxp handles passwords very diferently from win98., as i, too, am
xperiencing.
