What is a single-user license?
- A single-user license for Stata is an identified-user license. The
registered user is the only authorized user of that license.
- A single-user license allows Stata to be installed on multiple
computers as long as the authorized user is the only one with access
to the software.
- Single user licenses may be either annual or perpetual.
- Annual licenses
- An annual license entitles you to receive updates and new releases
to Stata software throughout your license term, all at no additional
cost.
- An annual license lets you enjoy uninterrupted access to technical
support from a dedicated staff of expert Stata programmers and
statisticians.
- An annual license is a one-year license. The term for an annual
license begins the day we process your order. Prior to the one-year
expiration date, you may renew your license to ensure continued access
to Stata software.
- Renewals are easy. Choose "Renew my license automatically" to
subscribe to Stata, or renew your license quickly online.
- Perpetual licenses
- A perpetual license will not expire.
- Perpetual licenses include one year of maintenance to ensure you
maintain access to the latest features and updates. You will
receive a convenient reminder to renew the maintenance prior to
the one-year expiration.
- Student perpetual licenses do not include maintenance. If
you own a student perpetual license and would like to
upgrade to a new version of Stata, you may purchase
an upgrade separately.
- If you decide to not renew your maintenance, upgrades to new
versions of Stata must be purchased separately.
- A single-user license may be upgraded to a new edition of Stata for an
additional cost, for example, from Stata/SE to Stata/MP. If it is an annual license, the license will maintain its original
expiration date.

What is a volume purchase of single-user licenses?
- A volume purchase of single-user licenses is a purchase of multiple
single-user licenses placed at the same
time in order to take advantage of falling per unit costs.
- Purchasing multiple copies of Stata under a volume discount does
not mean that the copies are connected. They are independent licenses.
- A volume purchase discount decreases the overall price paid for multiple
single-user licenses purchased together.

What is a network license?
- A network license allows a specific number of concurrent users.
- A network license allows Stata software to be installed on multiple
computers within a single geographic location or physical site.
- The minimum size network is a 2-user license. If the license is on
the current version of Stata, the size of the license may be increased
for a reduced per-user charge. For example, if you currently own a
5-user network license, the price of adding another user would be the
price of adding user number 6.

- A site license is an annual license.
- A site license has only one serial number to maintain and usage
is not monitored throughout the year. It conveniently centralizes Stata
purchases into a single annual payment.

What is a Student Lab license?
- A Student Lab license is appropriate for student use for classwork or
for use by faculty for teaching. It is not appropriate for research,
government, or corporate training.
- The minimum-size Student Lab license is 10. A 10-user Student Lab
license is a license for 10 users. If licensed for concurrent
use, the Student Lab license can be installed on a network or on a server.
The Student Lab license may also be installed on individual machines
or student laptops in a bring your own device environment up to the number
of users allowed by the license.
- The Student Lab license is an annual license. Annual licenses expire
one year from the date of purchase. Annual licenses ensure all users
have access to the latest version of Stata.
- All Student Lab users have access to PDF documentation.
- A Prof+ Plan is a great
