9:15–10:00 | Introduction to customizable tables in Stata 17
Abstract:
This presentation will introduce the new customizable tables in Stata 17.
I will discuss how to use the new table and collect commands
to collect, organize, manipulate, and display the results from Stata
commands to create customizable tables.

10:00–10:50 | Project evaluation econometric method and application of Stata
Abstract:
The core purpose of social science empirical research is
to achieve causal inference. This presentation first
introduces the concept and basic analysis framework of
causal inference; second, it focuses on the
econometric methods of project evaluation that are
currently widely used to achieve causal inference, such
as matching, IV, RD and DID, etc.; introduces the basic
ideas behind each method, model settings in practical
applications, and related classic literature; and finally,
introduces how each empirical method is implemented in
Stata.

11:10–12:00 | Call Stata from Python
Abstract:
Stata 16 introduced tight integration with Python, allowing users to
embed and execute Python code from all of Stata's programming
environments, such as the Command window, do-files, and ado-files.
Stata 17 introduced the pystata Python package. With this package,
users can call Stata from various Python environments, including Jupyter
Notebook, Jupyter Lab, Spyder IDE, PyCharm IDE, and system command-line
environments that can access Python (Windows Command Prompt, macOS
terminal, Unix terminal). In this talk, I will introduce two ways to run
Stata from Python: the IPython magic commands and a suite of API
functions. I will then demonstrate how to use them to seamlessly pass
data and results between Stata and Python.

1:30–2:10 | Analysis of Stata basic commands in accounting research
Abstract:
I introduce basic commands in accounting academic
research, including basic commands such as data import,
external command installation, report merging, data
cleaning, regression analysis, and result output.
At the same time, I also introduce the measurement of
accounting-related indicators, such as
earnings management and investment efficiency
calculations.

2:10–3:00 | Application of Stata in China map data processing
Abstract:
I will introduce the basic principles of Stata, reading
the information system of Baidu maps and Gaode maps, as
well as a series of map commands we developed. They
are cngcode, which converts Chinese addresses to
latitude and longitude; cnaddress, which converts
latitude and longitude into Chinese landmark geographic
locations; cntraveltime, which calculates the traffic distance
between two geographic locations (you can choose
different traffic modes); and cnmapsearch, which searches
for various geographic keywords such as subway stations,
hospitals, cafes, barbecue stalls, etc., within a few
kilometers of a given location. These commands provide
a great convenience for empirical research on geographic
and transportation issues and have broad application
prospects in finance, economics, and sociology.

3:20–4:00 | Bayesian analysis and Stata application
Abstract:
Bayesian analysis combines the likelihood function and
prior information, uses Markov Chain Monte Carlo
simulation (MCMC) to sample and infer parameters, and is
widely used in regression models, dynamic stochastic
general equilibrium, and various complex models.
This presentation introduces the built-in method of Bayesian
analysis in Stata, as well as the general method of
setting your own likelihood function, prior distribution,
and posterior distribution.

Abstract:
Taking the association and prediction of diabetes and
blood glucose-related indicators and cardiovascular
disease as actual research cases, in different scenarios
of a single study and multiple research data integration
(meta-analysis), how to use Stata for medical and health
research, especially survival analysis method of
analysis.

Design and Implementation of PSM-DID in Strategic Management Research
Liu Haijian, Nanjing University
In strategic management research, because of subjectivity, the multiperiod nature of variables, and the difficulty of controlling multiple variables, endogeneity is a problem that needs special attention. Propensity score matching (PSM) can artificially construct a quasiexperiment for the key object under study; and difference in differences (DID) can study the impact of an external event. When these two methods are combined, they are particularly suitable for studying the inconsistent influence of a certain type of external event in the experimental group and the control group, effectively removing the endogenous problem so that the impact of such events on the organization can be explored. This kind of research is widely used in strategic management research. This webinar discusses this and provides a specific example for analysis.
Application of Permutation Test in Causal Inference
Wang Fei, Renmin University of China
The permutation test, as a statistical inference method different from the random sampling perspective, is becoming more and more common in the field of causal inference. This lecture will introduce the logic of the permutation test and its application in random experiments and synthetic control methods, and it will use Stata software to show the operation process and results of the permutation test. At the same time, the permutation test has also shown a tendency of misuse in the field of causal inference (for example, it is used to test the exogeneity of key independent variables). This lecture will also take the double-difference method as an example to introduce the misuse cases and improvement ideas of the permutation test.
