The other option is for Richard Williams to forward me that message he got from "Paul"s in the future. Such messages could be viewed as annoying, at least, and we don't want that to happen to our posters.

Hi Rick,

I use Postini for my email accounts. There have been a few times where an email or two from the Statalist has been snagged by it, but Paul should be able to add the Statalist to an approved sender list through his service provider.

You are receiving this message in response to your email to Paul, a Spam Arrest customer.

Spam Arrest requests that senders verify themselves before their email is delivered.

When you click the above link, you will be taken to a page with a graphic on it. Simply read the word in the graphic, type it into the form, accept the Sender Agreement, and you're verified.

You have to do this only once per Spam Arrest customer.

I'm guessing this is legit, but does anyone know for sure? It would be a bit of a pain if everyone on a list started using this service, and I really don't care that much if "Paul", whoever he is, gets my messages or not. But I'll do it so long as i am not secretly infecting my computer with a virus. (Plus I have this feeling I am going to get these annoying messages every time I post to Statalist until I give in and do what it wants.)
