My guess is a corrupted installation. My own inclination would be to
uninstall and reinstall Stata. I suppose you could try using the
-force- option on -update- and see if that saves you some trouble.
Maybe wait a bit and see if someone else knows a simpler solution. I
googled "noeqcheck" and can't find anything. Except for this page
