One standard reference for such applications is

Croon, Marcel A., and Marc J. P. M. Van Veldhoven. 2007. "Predicting Group-Level Outcome Variables from Variables Measured at the Individual Level. A Latent Variable Multilevel Model." Psychological Methods 12(1):45-57.

This set of slides: http://www.ccsr.ac.uk/qmss/seminars/2010-06-25/documents/CroonQMMS2seminarpresentation.pdf seems to go a bit further.

Good luck!

Subject: st: A micro-macro multilevel analysis - Can it happen?

Hi All.
My dissertation requires a micro-macro multilevel analysis for
discrete variables. That is, I would like to explain a group-level
dependent
variable (turnover rates) with both group-level and individual-level
independent variables.

Exploring the literature I find the same group of authors discussing
it but it was more of a theoretical discussion than practical one.

I wonder if any of you have ever conducted such analysis or knows
anything about it?
Also, does Stata already have such features implemented to carry out
such analysis?

Can a micro-macro multilevel analysis really happen?
Any help or comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.
