I don't think many people here will have tons of experience working with the dialogue boxes, but I would suspect that the issue is that you are viewing your data with -edit- rather than -browse-. If you could send a copy of the commands that are processed it would make it much easier for others to help figure out exactly where the issue is and how to solve it. Many of the users of Stata work from the commands themselves, so the output from the command pane will typically get you a much faster response.
