David has already figured out the solution to his problem. It migth be a good idea to share it with others, too. See -help creturn- to learn where Stata stores its settings (and other useful stuff), some of which you can see typing -query-. Best Daniel -- Hello, This may have been discussed previously, but... Can anyone tell me, is there a way to detect whether varabbrev is set? Or generally, how to detect the value of any other setting? * * For searches and help try: * http://www.stata.com/help.cgi?search * http://www.stata.com/support/faqs/resources/statalist-faq/ * http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/stata/
