[This reply is on behalf of James Fiedler:]
I can confirm that saving as PNG sometimes causes problems for me, using Windows 7, Stata 12.1. Just now I did the following:
First, issue the commands
sysuse auto
scatter price mpg
Then use the graph GUI to save as PNG. No problem this time.
Next issue the command
line price mpg
When I try to save this as PNG, overwriting the previous file, Stata freezes. After closing Stata and trying to open the PNG, Windows tells me it is empty.
I also had problems with empty PNGs on Windows XP, but I don't recall whether Stata would ever freeze.
James

Saving a graph in PNG format causes my computer to freeze. The problem appears to be specific to PNG, as PDF and TIFF show no difficulties. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I'm using Stata 12.1 on Windows 7 Professional.
Thanks,
-Paul
