There are a number of areas where I think Statacorp should 'buy out' the developer. Chief among these is meta-analysis. A quick search of the literature reveals that Stata is more or less tied with RevMan (the Cochrane Collaboration's dedicated software) for frequency of citation in meta analytic papers, despite the fact that all of the meta analytic routines in Stata are user-written. Time to bring them under the hood, I think, and integrate them under a common command syntax.
Were I Statacorp, I would also buy out Nick Cox's -stripplot-, which is a real swiss army knife, as opposed to the bocky little gadget sold in gift shops.
