st: new command - stnet- for net survival

Dear Stata Users,
thanks to Kit Baum a new command, -stnet-, for the estimation of the
net survival is available for downloading from the SSC Archive.
The command implements the new method proposed by Pohar Perme et al.
(Biometrics 2012) . The net survival has a particular interest for
cancer registries because it does not depend on the other causes
mortality and it is the appropriate survival function for international
comparisons and time trends
Since the command applies a life table approach to the estimation of the
net survival I checked the results produced by -stnet- through
simulations. In this check a code kindly provided by Mark Rutherford has
been adapted. The results have been very encouraging and are included in
the zip file.
Further checks have been done by comparing results with those obtained
by using rs.surv, the R function written by Maja Pohar Perme.
-stnet- applies an approach very similar to -strs-, a command available
on the Paul Dickman web site.
Unlike -strs- the new command (-stnet-) does not expand the data set.
Therefore the memory requirements are drastically reduced and the
command run faster.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes.
Enzo
