Would a multinomial logistic regression with a dummy variable to 
distinguish the two groups use more information and produce more 
information? (An ordered logistic, I recall, seems to require an assumption of proportional odds, which would be violated if, for example, the treatment group clustered more tightly around the neutral position.)
