Dear Statalist.

Is there a way to estimate the extent of the difference between two coefficients obtained in the same xtlogit model.

I have one variable "old" and one variable "new" plus some controls. My hypothesis is that "new" will have a larger positive influence y than will "old".

Is there a Stata command or Stata technique I can use to test this relationship? I have perused the list and found the following post: http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2010-01/msg00555.html. This post deals with the test - command. As far as I can tell, this command checks whether the specified coefficients are significantly different or not. Is there a way to test/estimate the extent of the difference between the coefficients?

According to my theory, "old" is not likely to have a positive influence on y, and in my estimated model "old" is insignificant while "new" is significant. I would like to avoid having to formulate an hypothesis stating that there is no relationship between "old" and y.

Sincerely,

Erik.
