Given Stata matrices x1 and x2, something like this will map the upper
triangle into variables.
mata:
v1=vech(st_matrix("x1"))
v2=vech(st_matrix("x2"))
st_addobs(length(v1))
st_addvar("double","v1")
st_addvar("double","v2")
st_view(V=.,.,.)
V[.,.]= v1, v2
end
