Thanks to Kit Baum as ever, a new package -cbarplot- is available from
SSC. Stata 8.2 is required. Please use -ssc- to install if interested.
-cbarplot- is for what may be called centred bar plots of absolute or
relative frequencies.
Philip Ender of UCLA drew my attention to such plots some time ago.
-cbarplot- shows absolute or relative frequencies of a specified
variable as centred bar plots. If a second variable is specified, a
bar plot is shown for each distinct value of that variable. By
default, each bar plot has horizontal bars with absolute or relative
frequencies shown as marker labels.
In archaeology, such plots are often called battleship diagrams. I
would welcome hearing about examples of such plots in other fields.
