st: estout: estadd scalar returns "=exp not allowed"

Hello,

I am getting a strange error message when trying to use the estadd to create a scalar, according
to http://repec.org/bocode/e/estout/estadd.html#estadd004.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem might be? I have installed the latest version of the 
estout package (autumn 2009).

Here is my logfile:
