st: merge, append or which one?

Hello All,

I have all of the following data in fifteen separate files:

household data
district data
village data

for five separate countries.

I will have to conduct a cross-country analysis so which one is the
best way to conduct my analysis? Can you share your experience please?

Also, how do I give a prefix to all the variables for each country to
say fr, en, us (to france, england and USA)?
