Dear David
This applies to a number of other commands in addition to -xtmixed-. My hunch is that
this is to save time in downloading the entire .pdf manual again due to updates to just a
portion of the manual. I say this because at work I install and update Stata and find that
the update process can take 20+ minutes, 95% of which seems to be in downloading the .pdf
manuals.

I was looking at the PDF documentation for -xtmixed-. At the top it said the documentation had been updated, and to see it, I should click a link. That took me online to a newer version of the PDF documentation. Why not just update the original documentation?
