And there has been ~84% inflation since 1988, so that $590 in 1988 dollars is $1,085 in current dollars. Of course, the computer you need to run it has become a bit cheaper (and more powerful) too... but then they left out the floppy disk drive to read those Stata 1.5 diskettes!
