.

The book, "Linear mixed models: a practical guide using statistical software" by West, Welch, and Galecki has been out since 2006, but the authors have diligently updated their pages after each improvement in the Stata -xtmixed- command (after versions 9, 10, 11). Whereas when the book and -xtmixed- first came out, there were several models Stata xtmixed could not fit, but the version 11 -xtmixed- looks like it does well in every chapter. The book is also a great book for non-statisticians who want to use mixed models. The use of -margins- is also illustrated.
