For this problem,
. findname, valuelabel
is merely an alternative to
. ds, has(vallabel)
Any advantages of -findname- lie elsewhere:

Excellent, thank you for that extra tip Martin.
I just tested findname (e.g by defining and attaching a value label
of -3 "Refused" for all variables that have a value of -3) and it
worked like a treat. Definitely a keeper for me.
